I started this blog in the early summer of 2008. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then. Some of it murky. Some of it clear. I have been working on making images to use in the transfer process. Using digital prints and then copying them onto Fuji film I am achieving the textured and surprise of unexpected results that oftentimes happen. The wintery weather of the Northwest was not hard to leave behind. I am in Palm Springs enjoying a relative heat wave. This woman, Aurora and her husband Diego, operate the YAM Gallery in San Miguel. During the last two weeks they have become friends. Aurora makes beautiful and unique silver jewelry. It has been a very busy week in San Miguel. I have been shooting a 'day in the life' of a florist, Lupita, and her family. Lupita has worked in her family's flower business since she was six years old; 30 years. She has a stall at the mercado and in a nearby area of San Miguel. Tonight is the last night of the Cervantino in Guanajuato. The streets are filled with music, young people, art, and artists! Wonderful. My only regret is that I am only able to spend 24 hours here. Eddie Soloway's exhibit opens at YAM Gallery in San Miguel tonight. His work is beautiful. I made my way over to Guanajuato this afternoon. This city is about an hour from San Miguel and is the capital of the State of Guanajuato. It is located about 230 miles from Mexico city. It is a colorful colonial city nested in the Sierras. Today I listened to a piece called "Dawn" from a book by Barry Lopez entitled, "River Notes: Dance of Herons." The book was published in 1979. This is an audio piece from which Lopez reads accompanied by the music of David Darling. It is a very emotionally moving and visual piece of writing. On Thursday I was able to visit a hacienda on the out skirts of San Miguel. A very peaceful place owned by an American couple. On the grounds is a 400 year old chapel with beautiful, intricate wall art. It was nice to be away from the sounds of the city for an afternoon. In a couple of days I will be on my way to San Miguel de Allende for two weeks. I am looking forward to immersing myself in the culture. I plan to really see the life around me and get a real sense of place and reflect that in my images. I will also have to brush up on my limited Spanish. The city itself is located in the mountainous region of central Mexico at an elevation of about 7000 feet.

I will be at Sitka Center for Art and Ecology near Lincoln City at Cascade Head on the Oregon Coast from September 15 through September 19.  I will be photographing work from their art collection. My trip to New York was amazing. I visited MoMa, The Met, The Cloisters, The Guggenheim,  and galleries everywhere. I shot over 1000 images and cant wait to create with them. I have completed my BFA thesis. I am looking forward to New York and working on a new projects. This is one of my favorite images from my thesis work.
